My sway bar links on my 2003 jeep TJ are trashed. Finally decided to order replacements and decided i could do it myself. Was going fine, until it wasn't. I got to the bottom bolt thinking they were tighter than all heck so i went and got an electric impact wrench to get it off. Thats when i realized its welded on. Can anybody point me to the right place to fix this? They are completely worn down and bang all over the place when i drive. I have no idea where to even start. It has a 4 inch superlift suspension on it if that even matters. Thanks for any and all advice given.

It has been many years since they went away, but I'm nearly certain the bolts on mine were not welded. What I am seeing is the bushing sleeve corroded and possibly stuck to the bolt.

Dont think its meant to be welded but it definitely is. Must have been a custom thing whoever owned it before me did. The sway bar link bangs all over the place and makes so much damn noice because there is no rubber left in it😣

Which is precisely why I suspect your problem is the bushing sleeve surrounding the bolt. Start cutting.

That explains why you don't recognize the bushing sleeve in there or why that might be creating your problem.

i know what the bushing sleeve is lol only because the new parts i ordered came with them. Doesnt at all look like a bishing sleeve it looks like one solid rod and bold fused together

Do you have a sawzall or a cutoff wheel? You do however you need to be very careful. You're not gonna learn how to cut until you cut.

My dad does. we installed my poison spyder fenders that required cutting. just scared to make things significantly worse lol

Can I tell you something? You are making this way harder than it should be. If the head of the bolt is welded than the nut should come off. Put down your purse and get the nut off then remove the sway bar link.

It honestly looks like if he unbolts it at the top it will slip right over the bolt.

It appears to be driven in salt water and is sort of rusted together not welded maybe.
