What did you do to your TJ today?

My TJ came with a Bestop bikini top. However, it didn't include the windshield header channel. I greatly enjoy the top off feeling of the TJ. I wonder if it is worth it to get the header channel so I can install the the bikini top or not, or just run it completely topless.

I like having some kind of top over me, be it my safari top or my full top with just the windows out, just for the shade alone. It's too hot for me in full on summer here in SC with the top completely off. I keep my Spiderweb Shade on under my soft top just in case I want to drop the top completely. Honestly, the only times I've enjoyed the top completely off in my area have been Oct -Dec and about Mar - Apr, depending on the pollen.

I think it’s individual.....i love no top, the bikini is a buzz kill ...but it stops bad heat and helps with pop up showers-

The header is the best plan and give yourself the option if the top is off anyway

I’ve ran about every variation-

Love no top day and night the best- but my worst jeep rides were wonderful.

Yeah, I went ahead and ordered the header for the bikini top. It gives me options. I'm still a few weeks from taking the doors and top off here though.

I don’t like the sun beating down on my head. Due to that I had bikini top on my YJ all summer. My TJU came with the Sunrider feature which I really enjoy. During the peak of the day I can close if I want then reopen it when the sun goes down. I would get the bar so I’d have the option to put it up if I wanted.

Absolutely.

As I said, I modified mine a bit to give it the taller mid-section. So the types and quantities of Formufit pieces was different than shown in the link.

I bought one pack of 4-way pieces (not two), substituting one pack of 5-way pieces for the bottom and middle connectors on the middle section. I also bought one pack of 2-way connectors for the top crossbar.

The measurement modifications I made were: 7" instead of 6.5" for the shortest PVC sections, and the middle risers were 18" just like the side risers.

Advice: I bought casters with bolts 3/8" diameter and 1" length. If you can find casters with longer bolts, you'll have less headache. Maybe even look at 1/2" bolts, they should fit in the end caps.

Assembly: After jamming one PVC piece into the Formufit connector and it not easily contacting the internal ledge where it would fully seat, I figured something slick would help assembly. (I didn't want to bang on the pieces with a mallet and mar them.) I grabbed whatever I had within reach out in the garage that wasn't liquid or too staining, in my case some Mink Oil. I slathered a bit on the PVC external ends and the connector internals and everything seated easily afterwards.

Do you think these casters will work?

I run with the sunrider + spiderweb shade, best of both worlds

Top on, full doors on

Plan is to store painted parts, doors, etc- things I only use seasonally.... at my office.

As you can see a few of mine have started to peel up on the corners. I wish I would have started on one side and laid them over the top of one another and made my way across but its getting there. I plan to add a fold down table and will continue the theme on that as well. Thanks for asking

Not to double triple post but running out of daylight- tonight we started Clinton’s 04 Rubi Clayton/JKS/Savvy/Ome/BMB/Tom Woods 4” w/35’s Build -

Gonna be a good one -

What Clayton kit did you get. Last year we put a nice long arm kit of theirs on a JK. Nice stuff and great customer service.

You might be right on the money with those.

That length (1 3/8") should clear the back of the endcap, and the diameter (7/16") will be pretty dang close (eyeballing it here) to being just right.

I think I even considered them, but waved off because I didn't want 4" wheels.

However, my fickleness resulted in some extra running, purchasing, and work.

I'd try them. At least they'd be easy to return if they don't work.

Overland- all Girro joint, short arm-

Same as on my white one- really drives nice. Tight, quiet.

Their track bars are impressive too.
