What did you do to your TJ today?

I did notice today that at idle and when reving the engine I can hear the alternator wine after installing the cables. Maybe the alternator is going out?

There are two major failure modes for alternators. First, an electrical issue, such as a dead short, can cause the diodes inside the alternator to fail (burn up). You can purchase new diodes for a small fraction of the cost of a new alternator. Second, due to age and wear, the bearing can fail. New bearings are available for most alternators. If it's whining it probably wants more attention, and some new bearings.
Good luck!

Installed the M.O.R.E. skid plate. I have to say, for the price (with their 20% off anniversary sale) this thing is beefy. The install was pretty easy, but I am not a huge fan of the bent wrench they provide to get the bolts behind the frame side motor mount. It did work, it just took a bit of trial and error to get the bend correct. My oil pan already has a pretty big dent int it, but it does not leak, and still seems for drain fine, so for now this will just protect my deformed oil pan and Auto trans parts.

I have this on two Jeeps. Both are bowed up but still clear of the pan. Great skid.

That is great. It was not easy finding any reviews of it on-line so I am glad to hear you like yours. I just could not bring myself to spend double the price on a big name, and a lot of them seem to require the use of that brand's transfer case skid. I still have the factory TC skid. It is just a bis ass steel plate, why does it need to cost so much?

Ya gotta pay to play. 🤣🤣

My Jeep has been sitting at my brother's house for the past 3 days while I've been driving the Scion to make some money. I just went to get it and the flashers were on. WTH. Battery was fine and there's no way they've been on for 3 days and he didn't notice the flashing. I had a fog light issue not long ago that made the fogs come on at all hours (multifunction switch).
p.s. On a positive note, the BM LED taillights looked great flashing when I pulled up. 🥳

Trust me. You get what you pay for

I did the heater core over the weekend. Not as hard as I thought it'd be, spent more time soundproofing the firewall than I did taking the dash out lol. If I'd just done the heater core with no extra, would have taken me around 5ish hours.

Got it mostly back together and took it for a test drive; all worked well.

THEN - Finished putting the dash panels on, and now my brake lights flash on and off continuously as soon as the key is on, and the blinker sounds like it's ticking (but not indicating anything). Blinkers themselves do work fine, though. So I've got a wiring gremlin to chase down now.

Doing my axle u-joints this evening and tomorrow night as well too.... Glad it's finally warm out so I can go back to spending my free time on the jeep instead of wheeling it hahah.

$16,000. There's a 1972' Commando around and the guy is asking $23,750 (19,000 miles). I like them, just not that much.

Hmmm...that doesn't seem too bad for 27k and the apparent condition. Wonder what kidneys go for on the organ market... I'd pass on the '72, I much prefer the older front end, feels more Jeepish.

did you reuse the original foam gasket where the ac & heater core hoses pass through the firewall.. if not what did you use for the seal? Mines a little past nearing the end of its functional life & the silicone I caulked the firewall to the foam is starting to fail from deteriorating foam.
