I’m installing a new sub but it’s been a pain trying to get it to sit correctly without seeing it/being able to adjust it.

I have the proper triangle bit for the 4 triangular screws that are under the unit cover. I’m wondering if it’s even possible to remove these.

It looks like the ends of them (inside big compartment) were pushed back up to mushroom them so they can’t be remove from either side. I guess the 4 triangle screws were just installed in factory and weren’t intended to be taken out.

I just ripped one off pinching the back with pliers and unscrewing with the bit. I realize now it’s just one dang piece! But the torsion broke it in half.

I see a lot of people drilling them out, I don’t want to do that. Should I just rip them all out and secure them with new screws after?

What did you do for yours?

EDIT:

To be clear:

Removing the console is not the problem, neither is removing the sub. Those have both been removed.

I’m trying to remove the INNER BASKET part of the console. The little tub within the tub. (See photo #2)

I’ve added a photo of the above mentioned screws. These need to be removed to get the little tub out. I just want to know if there is any better way than breaking them in two to get them out.

You could always drill out the plastic rivets then replace them with aluminum pop rivets. Screws would be another option but you would need to be careful not to strip the plastic.

Are you reusing to factory sub box? What are you trying to adjust?

Edit: If you damage yours, you can have my new. I'm not using it anymore.
