Solar flares from west Tennessee

Mine don't look as sharply defined but we're seeing them here in Oklahoma.

seemed like it hit here around 10:20pm in mid michigan. I caught the tail end of it around 11pm 
Was anyone posting these pictures able to see this by the naked eye? If only with the camera/phone, what kind of camera/phone?
The reason I'm asking is because I couldn't see any light show with or without my Motorola phone and the wife could only see it with her IPhone.

Here's the same picture I took. Those two white dots are the reflection on the same garage door window:
The weirdest thing about these pictures is that she took hers facing south which I copied while the actual show is to the north.

3 second exposure on my iPhone made the pics look like they did. They actually looked better in the pics than the real life view.
To the naked eye, it was just a tinge of color that I might not have noticed if I hadn't been looking for it. And I had to get down my street to get my neighbors house out of my field of view with their two dozen exterior light fixtures.
My daughters and I headed out to the woods to see the lights. These are a couple of my favorite pics from last night.
At first we just thought clouds has settled in, but then we stared to notice how the "clouds" were moving. As it got near to midnight we could easily see more colors as the lights gained in intensity and our eyes adjusted.
