What is the life of a battery? It's a big disingenuous to use a time scale that doesn't include the biggest maintenance item in the car isn't it?
I guess people buying new cars rarely keep their cars 10+ years anyways so maybe it doesn't matter.

Dammit! I’m now reevaluating my life choices...
I'm surprised it took as long as it did for this to happen. Hell, they used to (and probably still do) steal copper gutters and downspouts from local churches for the scrap money.

Hell, don't most brake jobs at a shop cost more than $250 now?
I would think that might be low, depending on what you consider a "brake job". I believe independent labor rates alone can run $60-$100 per hour, location dependent, with dealer shop rates generally being even higher. Then you need to factor the parts plus part markup.
I do my own wrenching, but I would guess most visits to the mechanic will set you back $400-$500 minimum these days (again, location dependent)...but I could be wrong...

That looks grossly underestimated across the board. I know someone who just spent $10,000 on a less than 10 year old Ford. Hell, don't most brake jobs at a shop cost more than $250 now?
It's reporting average maintenance cost PER YEAR. They show by age groups to illustrate how maintenance costs go up with age.
It's also interesting that 4/5 of the least expensive to maintain brands are American.
Am I reading this wrong? To me, it looks like they're claiming Tesla cost an average of $580 over the first 5 years, then $3,455 years 6-10, with a total 10 year average of $4,035.

If I'm following you correctly I think that's the way I read it.
Of tesla owners they:
Average $580 for the first 5 years of ownership
On average Years 6-10 cost $3,455 total.
The average owner sees a cost of total maintenance for 10 years of $580+$3,455 = $4,035

Nothing gets better with new technology on this forum. Does it?
I assume you want to use this in combat?
