Looked at a lot of posts, but can’t find anything recent. ‘06 LJR, 114k, gas mileage has always been low, ~10mpg on 33s. I have replaced all four O2 sensors with NGK, and just replaced the catalytic with a new Magnaflow.

Just replaced the fuel injectors with 4-hole Bosch from Precision Auto Injectors.

I first noticed today a weird hesitation when accelerating from under 2k to 3k rpm. Only lasts a second, but it’s enough to make me lean forward a little. This afternoon, CEL for a P0133.

What am I missing? What should I check next?

Possibly the crankshaft position sensor? I’ve seen them ware out and have a “slip” in rpms around 2 - 2,500ish

Plugs, coil rail, PCM, etc.

Spark plugs are barely 2 years old, iridium as recommended on this forum.

I’ve been wondering about the coil rail, the only part of the spark system that hasn’t been replaced.

I hope it’s not the PCM.

Check the wiring over the dipstick.

Go ahead and install the new crank sensor and coil.

But.. 2006 means you're going to eventually be replacing the PCM.

Installed the new CKP (Mopar, made in China ) and the coil rail. Now she won’t start at all 🤦‍♂️

No codes, no CEL. Cranks, but sounds like the timing is way off. Anything special I need to do to “synchronize” the CPK?

I’m curious to know what it sounds like

Check fuel pressure for kicks and giggles?

Noid light on an injector...spark plug test light on a plug.

That would answer fuel and spark.

Timing as you mentioned...

Don't think you need to worry about compression.

CKP harness. I’m chasing wiring now. Or the PCM 👎🏻

No RPM when cranking. Problem started when I replaced the sensor and coil rail. Switching the sensor back to OEM did not fix it. I'll be testing the harness this afternoon.

Fuel is good. Spark is a dull red in the tester, which research suggests is not hot enough? Same on new and old rail

As long as you got them from a Parts store or Rock Auto , I would not worry. However, if you got them from Amazon, or Ebay I would be concerned as theres many chinesium fakes on those 2 platforms that have very short life spans

I got burned once from Amazon

@Wranglerfix, I have crank no start with fuel and (what might be weak) spark. New coil rail and CKP triggered the issue, but switching back to old parts doesn’t fix it. Was having intermittent hesitation during acceleration and random O2 sensor codes (see above). ‘06 LJR manual. Is this sounding like a failed PCM?

The random o2 sensor codes are one of the signs of a faulty pcm. Rough idle, loss of gauges and stalling while driving are the others. You can call me to discuss in further detail if you’d like.

Thanks,

Mark

The problem turned out to be the goddamn NEW coil rail from Hitachi. Put the original back in and she starts and runs. Going to go in to the Reno stealership for a ckp/cpm relearn next week
