Unless you play in the wet, have a 4 popper or are doing an engine swap most of the time there is not a ton of reasons to ditch the stock fan. Most off the shelf offerings for the TJ are expensive and give lackluster performance so DIY is really the only other option.

They are ok but not super durable.

Nothing worse than having your hand inside a dash and have an angle cut zip tie get the back of your hand. I would rather they did not cut them at all. @JMT these will get you by until you get good ones...

Like Mike said checking overall torque doesn’t really work. It sound like your temps are heading in the right direction so you should be good.

Well somewhere along the line in this it appears I may have damaged a tube. My attempt to solder it left me with a puddle on the floor so off to an old school radiator guy to do it correctly.

If the temps do not drop with subsequent drives that would be a concern.

Fan is on solid. Just need to redo the wiring and put it back in the rig.

For the fan I used stainless screws that I tapped the flatbar and sent home with some red loctite. This way they act more like a stud and should be more resistant to loosening.

Little more progress. Picked up some 1x1/8 stainless and some hardware. Using some sharpie aided design and got to work.

Gonna give it a go this way. If I can’t get enough pull I will re-examine and try something different.

The motor on the old 3.0 Taurus fan is finally giving up the ghost so it needs attention too. A friend here on the forum had a 17 inch Derale two speed fan laying around and graciously offered it up. So in the morning I have some parts to grab but I think we can make it work just fine.
