Washington Washington members that live to wheel

Ok, this has never happened before, but, my battery was dead and wouldn't start the jeep. I tried jumping with my F250, and that's when I discovered it would not stay running unless I added throttle.
Battery is on my NOCO genius charger right now. Kind of wondering if there is a relationship between the two issues?

So after being on the Noco overnight, the battery is only charged to 50%, but still climbing.
Hopefully tonight when I get home the charge cycle will be complete, and maybe she'll run correctly.
Sadly need to wait for the cycle to complete...

WOW then your battery must have been darn near drained if not completely drained? How long had it been sitting since the last time you'd started it? Or do you have a drain on your battery? Either way I'd put a trickle charger on it from now on.

It's been since our "summer play" day run at Natchez since I last started her. That was weekend of August 12th. I've had so much to do, just been ignoring the jeep. When I first bought it I had a slight drain/discharge on the battery which I couldn't find, so I sent her into a good shop which found an issue on the AC pump, that was somehow causing a drain on the system. If she starts and runs like normal once fully charged, I'll start looking for a drain, and if I cant figure it out, I'll send it out to the same shop to diagnose it.

Even if it doesn't have a drain IMO you should have a battery maintainer (trickle charger) on it. Sitting for that long of time can cause even a good battery with no drain to lose a charge.
I ruined a pair of Yellow top Optima batteries because my Jeep sat & I didn't have a trickle charger on them.

Well, I do have a trickle charger my corvette over the winter, and jeep sits next to the vette, so once this is figured out, I'll add the jeep to the trickle charger.

If it is a voltage sensing charger (most maintainers are) and it doesn't have a seperate "2 battery" option don't just hook them in parallel. The charger will not know the difference if one battery is at full charge and the other isn't. It will sence the full charge of the one battery and turn on/off based on the battery with the higher charge.

If one of the vehicles sits next to a window that is exposed to a decent amount of sunlight you could use an inexpensive solar maintainer. We use on to keep the 2 Red top Optimas in our Wagoneer charged. It even works well in the winter when temps drop below zero.

The Noco has 4 leads to trickle charge 4 seperate batteries at the same time.
I've heard horror stories of vette's that won't start after being stored. We don't drive the vette in the winter. I leave the windows down and run the charger thru an adapter I bought to trickle charge via the cig lighter.

@JMT sorry I will miss this trip wish I was ready. I'm getting closer and closer so hopefully you can make it back over for the Reiter trip.
I've you need a place to crash I might be able to provide a bed.
My sister's house is between Snohomish and Monroe.

We’ll see. I’ll definitely try to make it. We drove past Reiter yesterday on HWY 2. It’s such a pretty drive. Takes me about 4 hrs to get there. I need to get some air bags in the rear so I can pull the Luna. Would make sleeping much easier.

Enjoy the weekend and have fun wheeling.

Yes Hwy 2 is a LOT prettier drive than running I-90.

Figure my shakedown trip hopefully will be in 2-3 weeks? So like right after Thanksgiving. But part of that will depend on weather. I'm not going to try running across the pass towing a trailer if the pass is shitty.

Quick update for anyone who cares.
After three days on the Noco, the battery has reached fully charged status.
Jeep fires right up and idles like it should.
Glad to hear 👍

At this point have made plans and am heading to Elbe.
You all have fun, hope to catch up with you all when Wildman makes his debut.
Come say hi if you see us, we’ll be in the blue buggy and silver LJ.

Come say hi if you see us, we’ll be in the blue buggy and silver LJ.

I would love to say hi.
I'll bet there will be 100 buggies and 10 silver LJs.
Maybe not hanging together though.
I'll be in a green Cascade 4 X 4 club hoodie until I get too wet and put on something repellant.
Have not done this event, but am truly expecting the worst traffic jam ever in the middle of the woods.
My point is it's going to be serioudly crowded and crazy, maybe even hard to get up to the ramp area.

not going to make it tomorrow, I’ve been out a decent amount lately and going again in 2 weeks and just don’t want to drive that far for a day trip, I’m gonna head to Elbe for KOE instead though.

I'll wear either a black magic brakes hat or wizard recovery gear hat.
If any of you all see a tall, grey bearded dude, come say hi.
By the way, mumblewood, you were at snojam and I seen you win something, didn't know it was you until you posted about it on this thread afterwords.
I've probably ran into a few of the WA crew at events and just haven't made the connection.

It’s raining at Walker. I’m guessing that’s par for the course. Met up with Pete and fell in with a JKU who was cutting a tree so we could go down to the trail. He’s there every week so he escorted us around. I think we did most of the trails except humps and bumps and the 4 x 4 test area which were closed for logging. A few good rocky sections.

If you’ve been to Walker you know you have to go around the gate to get in. I decided to try to drive over the rocks rather than around them. For a moment I think I had it, but I let off the momentum and got high centered. I’m sure Pete was thinking, “Geez, this is going to be a long day.” I think he got a pic. He ended up driving out the other side and winching me back. Not much room for a TJ between the rock and the pole, so I used reverse while hard against the pole to move my front end over. 👍🏼
